Renown’s ‘H’ Hydraulic Liner Packer is designed as the most economical option for hydraulic liner top packers, offering basic functionality for annular wellbore isolation with a simple setting procedure. This packer features a single piston and single element, equipped with a one-way element ratchet mechanism.

It is conveyed downhole and functioned using the RDS Liner Running Tool (30-001-XXXX-00), which hydraulically actuates the packing element. Once activated, the ratchet system permanently sets the packing element against the casing. The tool string and running tool are released hydraulically by collapsing the threaded dogs on the running tool, allowing retrieval. As a safety measure, the RDS Liner Running Tool can also be rotationally released. For smaller sizes of the ‘H’ Liner Packer, the ‘S’ Series Basic Running Tool (30-015-XXXX-00) with a cup tool is required, which only allows rotational release. To retrieve the packer from the hole, the running tool is run in and latched onto the packer, and the packing element is scrubbed off as it is pulled out of hole, as the element cannot be unset.

As with all Renown ‘H’ Series Liner Packers, this packer can be paired with Renown’s ‘R.I.P.’ Plug for a “patented” One-Trip System for running liners that will require a retrievable bridge plug installation after the liner is in place, and the well bore will be open or exposed to atmosphere. This “patented” system allows a retrievable isolation plug to be ran with a liner packer/hanger and setting tool all in one-trip of pipe in the hole.
